This blog is for all the aspiring photographers who like to take panorama pictures in the wild. If you want to create a top-quality, easy-to-stitch panorama, we feel that it is a good idea to position the nodal point ( sometimes misinterpreted as nodal point) of your lens above the head’s rotary axis. This, however is impossible without the use of a specially designed head. This special head is the panoramic photography head.

There are primarily three categories of panoramic heads available in the market currently:

Cylindric Heads

With the help of this head, you cannot tilt the camera in all axis of the nodal point of the lens. This can however be used to realize monorange panorama, even when the camera is tilted.  It does two-stage sliding at 90° to realize monorange panoramas. It is more stable and also compact.

Spherical Heads

It differs from cylindrical head because it enables the body to tilt in all nodal point axis and to realize multirange panoramas. It is also equipped to realize gigapixel panoramas.

Motorized Heads

Motorized heads are spherical panoramic head for photography, where the rotation and tilting are mechanized. It mostly comes equipped with two vertical arms (Gigapan Epic Pro). It is imperative to realize gigapixel panoramas automatically. Whatever be the case, it always works seamlessly, such that you once you try it, you want to use it again and again. Experts, however prefer the manual head to shoot monorange panoramas.
